What to do with living room fire - hole in chimney breast is smaller than marble surround
Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.49 PM
We have bought an older property. There is a fireplace with a marble surround but the hole in the chimney breast is smaller than the surround and the surround also needs altering to fit the gas fire we have picked. How do we go about making the hole bigger in the breast and the surround? Plus installation of the gas fire?

The opening size required will be in the fire installation instructions, get a builder to alter the opening to suit these instructions. As for the marble surround your builder or fitter should be able to cut the opening size larger with an angle grinder with no problems.
