Water from tank dripping into toilet

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.47 PM

I've replaced a toilet in my spare room because it was dripping water from the tank into the toilet bowl and it was old so needed replacing. I was hoping changing the whole unit would solve the water running problem but it has not. The water from the tank is still running into the toilet basin. Even with a brand new dual flush toilet fitted. I'm out of ideas of what I can do. Any other suggestion would be much appreciated Thank you

Hi It just needs adjusting, there is a plastic screw thread that you turn that stops the valve when it reaches a certain level

If it’s not a overflow issue then it could be the syphon that is letting by if the cistern came pre made I normally tighten the nut on the bottom of the syphon as if this let’s by then it would slowly drip into the bowl. To do this you would need to remove the cistern by isolating the supply, flush the cistern and soak up any water left over with a towel or old rag. Then remove the cistern and tighten the nut or be be extra safe remove it altogether and silicone the rubber seal and refit it. Hope this helped. Simon.
