Uneven bathroom walls needs skimming - will tile adhesive on wall make it difficult to skim?

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.04 PM

I have taken the tiles of the bathroom wall and intend to get a plasterer to come round and skim them so I can just paint them. But although the tiles have come off easily enough, the tile adhesive has not and is quite thick in places maybe up to 2mm thick, will this make it difficult to skim and get a smooth surface to paint on, or do I need to chip the adhesive off as best I can? Thanks Morgan

Hi Morgan, A decent plasterer will get over your issue easily! I personally would apply a 'tight' coat of Thistle Bonding coat over your uneven walls before skimming with Multi-Finish.

Hi have you tried washing the old adhesive off with hot water letting it soak for a time the adhesive will soften up
