Twin shower pump not working for one shower but does work for the ensuite shower

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.04 PM

We have a Bristan Duraspeed 70 twin pump, which we run the main bathroom shower and our ensuite shower off. We have just refitted the main bathroom, and fitted a Hudson Reed Dual Exposed Shower Valve with a Rigid Riser, Similar to the shower we have in the ensuite. The problem is the new shower we have fitted the pump doesn't kick in at all but the ensuite still works fine. Pump is fitted in the airing cupboard with the cold water tank being in the loft. We did take the rigid riser kit off the shower value and the pump worked but when we put the shower head and riser kit back on it doesn't any ideas please.

Do you have minimum 60cm between shower head and base of cold water storage tank? It sounds very much like you need to fit a negative head pump.

Hi I've come across this problem a few times. The riser rail of your new shower will probably have a non return valve installed these can be quite restrictive and you don't get the initial flow to start the pump. They are usually in the very end of the rail and easy to remove if that doesn't work see if you can raise the height of your header tank in the loft Hope this helps John

Not enough flow rate to start pump up ..negative head pump needed or remove any restrictor . Have you checked the filters in the fittings just to make sure there's no dirt been picked up on installation
