Leak in bay window roof or external wall?
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.04 PM
Hi, firstly thanks for reading! We live in an old mid-terrace house with a bay window at the front of the house. Had new bay window fitted around 4 years ago and a new bay roof fitted about 2 years ago. Problem we have is when it rains heavily with wind the roof seems to leak. Only when it's windy though, if there's no wind there's no problem. The roofers have been back out and checked the bay roof a few times and re-sealed everything and can't find anything wrong. We have blinds fitted on the inside and the water leaks down through the holes where the blinds are fitted. This suggests to me it's not a leak in the actual bay window roof but water is leaking in somewhere and collecting on the inside of the bay ceiling and leaking through the holes. The roofers have suggested the water may be coming in through the external wall and running down the cavity and collecting on top of the inside of the bay ceiling. If anyone has any ideas or advice would be much appreciated! The bay ceiling has already caved in once, hence the new bay roof, and I don't fancy it happening again! Thanks again, Claire & Dan
