Finding where leak in dining room originates from in terraced house
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.03 PM
I live in a terraced house, flat roof on back and front. There was a leak causing damage to my dining room, so we and the neighbours shared the cost of replacing the flat roof. I still have water leaking into my dining room, I am 99% certain it is coming from my next door's bedroom window. How do I prove it? There is no water leaking next door so discounted flat roof leakage.

Dear Mrs Bailey,
Without actually looking at the issue it is impossible to say where your leak originates. Your best bet is post the job on the site and get a local expert round to assess where the problem lies, ask them to put their findings in writing, then if as you say it's coming from the neighbour's window, show your neighbour their findings.
Good luck Alex

You could speak to your neighbour, appraise them of the situation and do a water test. Start with what you think is the offending window (with the neighbours permission) and run a hose over it. If this is not the issue? Do small areas on the roof, chimney etc..until you trace the problem.
