Boiler losing pressure - how quickly can leak in heating system be located?

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.03 PM

Hi. My combi is about 6y old and is losing pressure fast. When I isolate boiler from the radiators, pressure won't drop, even overnight. It only drops when heating is actually ON. I tested my combi overnight and it looks like pressure does not drop when boiler is isolated from the radiators loop. It stayed the same all night, but when I opened both valves this morning and reconnect boiler with the loop, pressure dropped to around .8 bar. So I understand that I have a leak somewhere in the heating system but not the boiler. How quickly can such a leak be located? Cheers. Additional FOUND IT. Leaking under the floor, right below the boiler, first speed fit elbow faulty. Topic closed :)

Look outside, you will see a 15mm pipe leading from the boiler, this will probably be discharging water as a result of a ruptured expansion vessel. Time to call your local gas safe engineer to make good repairs. Don't delay!
