new boiler/radiators and pipes with banging noises when heating on and off

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.47 PM

Had new Baxi Boiler fitted recently with new radiators, some on new pipe work, others fitted to old system (not our choice!). Downstairs heats up perfectly, upstairs takes a long time to heat up and then radiators only heat up about 60 to 70% if that. No chemical flush was carried out on pipe work that were aware of. Over the last week noticed loud banging coming from pipes when heating is warming up, cooling down, been on for a while and when its been off for a while as well.. any one have any ideas what this could be? The plumber who carried out the work is currently on holiday so unable to call for advice.

Possible causes: 1. System no properly cleaned in accordance with manufacturer's instructions (causing poor circulation). 2. Pipework not properly bracketed. 3. Air in system. 4. Boiler not fitted accordance with manufacturers instructions Did the installer demonstrate the boiler and all other associated works (including radiators) on completion to your satisfaction? And also fill out the manufacturers Benchmark before handing over the boiler installation to you? (most important)
