Replacing Creda double oven with Neff single oven
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.00 PM
I am replacing a Creda fan assisted double oven with ceramic hob, with a Neff single fan assisted oven - power 2850, and a Baumatic touch control ceramic hob (3KW). The present system is hard wired to a cooker point 50cm away, and the whole system is on its own 30amp fuse. Will I need to make any changes, is my power supply OK? I intend to get a professional in to wire up, but want to get an idea of what I am letting myself in for first, or will I have to stick with a freestanding cooker?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Your supply is OK for the load you intend to put on it, your electrician will be required to recommend upgrading your cooking circuit to be RCD protected but you are not obliged to do this if the circuit is not altered in any way. I would recommend you do too.
From the sound of it you have a wilex rewire able fuse board and it is worth considering upgrading to a 17th edition consumer unit to make the whole house RCD protected.

Hi Rod,
If your wiring and protective devices are suitable then you can feed two items from a single cooker isolating switch. The only way to know if you have the correct wiring and suitable protection is to have an electrician inspect and test ready for your new appliance.
It sounds as though you have the basics in place, so you could wait until installation, but then you may be caught out if the wiring or protection is sub-standard. Just make sure you employ a part P registered electrician to install your new cooker and ask him for his identity card that shows he is Part P registered, you can never be too careful.
