Lean-to built with concrete blocks laid unevenly with varying mortar joints and crooked blocks

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.00 PM

I had a lean to built, the inner wall was of paintable quality concrete blocks, however they have been laid uneven with varying mortar joints and crooked blocks. The builder said it's to high standard but I don't agree...what do you think? Where would I get someone to give their expert opinion? Additional Hi rick, g king. Thanks for replies...this is only way I could put up reply, adding to this post. The internal paintable grade blocks where the inner skin wall of the lean to...and other than being painted where the final finish

Rick is quite right. However, I am assuming that because paint grade blocks have been used that they just need painting for their final finish? What I mean is there is no plastering to be done, otherwise if your 'builder' is not doing face blockwork and therefore not spending as much care and time as he needs (but why use paint grade blocks!) Hope this makes sense!!

Hi. Face blockwork should be of a very high standard, something a decent bricklayer should be able to do with ease!! It also should be set out properly so that you have 10mm perp joints and 10mm bed joints within reason. Get another bricklayer to have a look and give an opinion but you may have to pay for their time. Regards, Rick
