How to fit cooker hood to plasterboard/stud wall

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.00 PM

Hi, I wanted to ask how you would go about fitting a cooker hood to a stud wall that has been built on top of a solid wall. The end result is that there is a cavity of a 3-4 inches between the plaster board and the solid brick wall. Would the hood be mounted straight on to the plaster board or will it require something else? Thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I would use 100mm x 8mm Fisher window fixings. Mark the position of the bracket then drill an 8mm hole through the plasterboard and into the wall behind. Knock the 100mm grey plug into the hole but keep level with plasterboard not through it. Put the screw in and fix until tight, depending on the type of hood and if you have wall units each side you can normally fix through the sides as well for a bit of insurance. Hope this helps.
