immersion heater - fuse box tripped and no hot water

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.47 PM

Hi All I woke up this morning and found that my fuse box had tripped out, further investigation has led me to the water tank and now I have no hot water. I've been advised that this is common but not been given a reason why. Any ideas as to what could have caused this please?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hard water! The limescale in the water has built up on the immersion heater element over time and corroded it. The element has now blown, so the tank will need to be drained down and a new element fitted.

The element has gone on the immersion tank and would need replacing to get hot water.

Most probably a faulty immersion heater. You will need to call an electrician, preferably one familiar with immersion heater replacement as he will be working on the plumbing as well to test to confirm and repair as required. Kevin.
