Kitchen Fitting

Hi - we've just had our kitchen fitter (small size) quoted £1650 (doesn't include plumbing or electrics). Have now been told masticking is a separate job (not part of 1650) and will cost £450 (this does however include masticking or our skirting in the living room and hallway (again small size - 1 bed flat). Is it typical for builders to quote separately for masticking and fitting? I would have expected this to be included in the fitting cost. We paid £550 to fit the flooring and skirting. Second qu - we were quoted £250 for the kitchen flooring on the basis it was tiled and grouted but it was actually laminate. Our builder has said the cost will be the same as it's technically easier to fit tiles - is that correct? Last qu, the builders have taken the doors off to fit the flooring and are now saying to sand them down and put back on is a separate cost not covered by the cost of fitting the floor. Is this right? Any advice would be much appreciated
you need a new builder, one without a horse
