How should a worktop fit - worktop an inch over the units

Hi I have just had new worktops put on my old units, but the worktop is about an inch over the units, it used to be flush. I don't think it looks right my builder said that's how they go ...I'm not convinced it's right Any views appreciated Thanks

Hi greenking The worktop should over hand the base unit doors approximately 1 inch dependent on the type of worktop used, the fitter is correct. Hope this helps

Yes Hutchinson refurb is right. I imagine you had a 600mm deep worktop and now have had it replaced with a 630mm deep worktop. Suppliers vary on worktop depths, I always plumb for the 630mm as it overhangs the doors and I think a neater finish.

Hi, The worktop will usually have a small lip at the front as standard unless you had specified otherwise. At the whole worktop should sit flush on the units. Hope that helps to clear things up.
