Floating shelf removal
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.47 PM
Hello, if anyone could offer a solution I would be so grateful! We had a solid wood floating shelf put up. It drooped so the guy used the strongest glue he could to attach it to the hidden brackets. Bad idea! It still droops but now appear to be permanently attached to my wall! How can I get it down? Is there something very thin I could saw the metal brackets off with (baring in mind it is butted right up against the wall. Many thanks anyone who can offer a solution!

A fein multimaster with a metal cutting blade will be able to cut the brackets very close to then wall.

If you don't already have a multitool to use, then a cheaper alternative would be to use a hacksaw blade on it's own, get the longest blade you can and wrap both ends up in cloth to prevent cutting yourself, the blade should be thin enough to feed down the back of the shelf and flexible so you can cut the brackets away by hand.
