loft conversion

Hello can you please tell me the min head room required for a loft conversion many thanks Antony.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

There is no longer a minimum headroom requirement under the Building Regulations but I would suggest 2.1 metres is as low as you ought to go.

No min height as such. Centre of stair to ceiling height is min 2 m (bregs doc k) therefore the ceiling can be no lower than this. However if you can achieve a greater height for the main loft ceiling then 2.3m is a comfortable height for a habitable room.

Hello, The Building Regs state that you have to have 2M minimum head height at the top of the stairs. Just remember though you may end up putting 40mm insulation under the rafters plus 15mm plasterboard and about 2mm plaster skim. You may also need to install a new floor in the loft too which could add another 100mm to the floor height. Best wishes Andy at Room-by-Room (UK) Ltd
