Do I need to apply sealant before plastering walls in bathroom?

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 2.59 PM

I took moldy wall paper and polystyrene tiles off the ceiling, the plaster has come with it. The plasterboard is left bare. Do I need to apply sealant before I plaster the walls? Also the shower tray is leaking, do I need to take the whole thing out, or can I just remove the rest of the shower and try seal it all up properly?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Just simple pva and water on walls to seal plaster (before and after). Leave the tray in place and remove all the existing silicone before resealing, you can buy silicone remover from a good plumbers merchant
