Bathroom extractor fan in a kitchen?

Anonymous user 7 November 2013 - 11.14 AM

Can we use a bathroom extractor fan in a kitchen? We have a Manrose extractor fan 150mm timer model...can we install this in the kitchen? We only use it occasionally, but wanted a low profile fan and I can't seem to find a low profile kitchen one. Many Thanks Sarah

As a general rule bathroom fans are not suitable for use in the kitchen as many have no filter inside them. Have seen many bathroom fans used in kitchen over the years and all eventually fail in the same way, in that oil/grease in the air from cooking vapours etc build up on the fan blades and inside the fan casing causing the fan motor to sieze and stop working.

A 150 mm fan is capable of extracting a kitchen, depending the size of the kitchen.
