Can you use anything other than lead on a valley gutter?

Anonymous user 14/03/2024 - 2.31 PM

Can someone please help, had repairs to my Victorian house to the roof, valley gutter and a bonding gutter down centre between next door and mine, does it make it impossible to fit bonding gutter with no party wall in loft? And what besides lead is suitable for a valley gutter? Just need someone in roofing trade to help answer please, thanks

You can use a fibre glass valley depending on the tiles you have. There's a open one which the tiles are then bedded on cement or a close cut one where the tiles are cut closely to the middle. If the lead valley has been installed properly then it shouldn't leak. S&S Exterior Maintenance

I have used the grp valley substitute both on my own house to try it out and on clients houses once i knew it was ok, all have been very good cheaper than lead but without the lifespan of the more traditional method, we obtain it from roofing superstore, its cheaper if cost is an issue,

Yes, alternatives to lead for valley gutters include materials like EPDM, GRP, or zinc. For the bonding gutter, consider flexible materials or lead substitutes. The absence of a party wall in the loft shouldn't make fitting a bonding gutter impossible.
