cheaper to buy insulated plasterboard or normal plasterboard and cavity wall insulation?

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.03 PM

Hi All, I am looking to add plasterboard for all walls and ceiling for my garage. I was just wondering is it cheaper to buy INSULATED PLASTERBOARD or normal plaster board and Cavity Wall Insulation to put between the brick wall and the plasterboard. The garage about 4 meter length and 2.5 wide. Thanks all.

It's cheaper to buy the insulation and plasterboard as thermalite boards cost about £45.00 each for a sheet of 2400x1200x12.5 whereas rolls of insulation are £36.99 each then a sheet of 2400x1200x12.5 which is just over £5.00 per sheet

The walls are not a problem as a rule but you can not use thermally insulated boards on the ceilings if you have a room above the garage. If in doubt contact building control at your local council and seek advice. Any garage with adjacent rooms have fire regulations involved as to how much protection the rooms need. So the price may vary depending on the specs.
