Porch/conservatory - best replacement option?
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 2.59 PM
I need help from some creative builders! :) We have a 'porch' on the back of our house leading off the kitchen which needs replacing - it is 2.5m square ish. It is constructed with 700mm single brick (which is mouldy and cracking), with pvc windows all around and double doors, and a slanted tiled roof which is plasterboarded inside. The tiles on the roof aren't right, they're too heavy. We had our drive done not so long ago and the builder told us that the foundations werent right. It's rendered badly too on the outside. So the only thing that is ok on it is the windows! It basically needs knocking down. We don't have a great deal of money to replace it though - what do you guys think wold be the best option for rebuild? We want the replacement to be 5m by 2.5m so that it covers the back of the house and thn we have a dining kitchen. The windows could fit this if we build a brick wall on the right hand side. So what would be cheapest and best - A conservatory? An extension reusing the windows? I don't mind using 2nd hand materials if they can be tidied. In an ideal world I'd like a roof on it with skylights as its stay warmer? Eventually we will be removing the kitchen and the back wall from the house and using this 'porch' space as part of a dining kitchen. Itll be a few years before we can afford the kitchen though. We need to do something with this damp porh soon though as the mould is no good for our new baby. Any ideas welcome!
