Reduced pressure in cooker gas rings
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.02 PM
When one gas ring is on its fine, but when I put two or three rings on the pressure reduces,it's been like this since it was installed eight years ago,I have had gas people clean the rings, they weren't clogged anyway, and have checked the flexi hose for kinks but it appears ok,is it perhaps a cooker fault,it's free standing ,gas hob and electric oven, or a gas problem, loved to get it fixed thank you

I am not a gas fitter. I am giving an answer as I recently came across a similar problem in a house I refurbished and it was actually diagnosed as an insufficient gas supply coming to the house. I found this surprising but once a new gas main was fitted from the road to the meter (which Transco did for free)everything was perfect. A gas safe engineer should be able to measure the gas flow you have. Have you checked that none of the pipework from the meter to your hob has in anyway been reduced, turned down, dented, squashed etc?

A good gas safe engineer would carry out a standing pressure and burner pressure test first!
