3 out of 10 halogen lights on same dimmer not working
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.02 PM
I have a string of 10 Halogen lights (flush fit 240v) all on the same dimmer but have 3 not working. They all have power to them and I have even changed the lamp holders but still nothing. What could be causing this?

99% likely to be a neutral fault, (loose connection somewhere).

You may have just a live to the fitting, you are most probably missing a neutral due to a loose or broken connection, if you are using a magic pen or something along those lines as a tester these pick up emf which runs through neutrals aswell. It is best to get a proper voltage 2 prong tester and test between live and earth (230v) and live and neutral (230v), If you find that you are missing either live or more probably neutral from what you are saying then go to the last fitting that is working or the 1st fitting in the row that is not working and you should find your loose connection if they have been wired correctly in a radial circuit
