Skirting board thickness when laying laminate flooring

Hello Sorry if this is a silly question but soon I am going to be laying laminate flooring and I am gonna be replacing skirting boards when I do. My question is that are all skirting the same in thickness or does it have to be a certain amount so it will cover expansion gap? Many thanks.

Hi As long as you keep the expansion gap even within 8mm-10mm or so most skirting will cover this gap.
