House alarm going off for no reason
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.02 PM
My house alarm went off in the night. I called a tradesman who ripped the outside box off the wall and left. What do I need to repair it? The box outside smashed all over front garden and still don't know what triggered the alarm to go off. Will I need a new system? I hope not

Could be a battery or charging fault at the panel?

You will most likely need a new battery, this is the main cause for systems causing a false alarm. You will need a new external sounder, they are reasonably priced by many companies. Beware some larger companies may charge you for a callout and also try and tie you into a large service contract. A service contract is a very good way of keeping false alarms such as this down, all 'bells only' systems should be serviced at least once a year, just like your car.
Hope that helps

You will need a new external bell 100%. you need to know what caused the activation
was the alarm set? If so what zone activated
was there a power cut? If yes, Then the back up battery in panel will need replacing as its not covering the system in event of power cut.
I recommend you taking a maintenance contract out with a company as they can then check the battery on every visit and prevent this happening again. They will also put there branded external bell box on your property which will cover all your issues.
