Moving an electric pole

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.47 PM

I have received a quote from a utility company for moving an outside electric pole which is on my land 1.5 metres. The sum quoted is absurd and I need to know what parts of this job can be carried out by other contractors at normal competitive costs.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

In short NONE! It's illegal to interfere with the Distribution Network Operators equipment in any way.

I had to get one moved at my parents and they let me do the prep work ie digging and putting in the ducting. They came and put a new pole up and connected the wire and it cost £7000.
