Trimming of interior glazed doors

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.01 PM

We have several solid pine glazed doors which needed trimming 1-2 inches top and bottom to fit-can you do this for replacement (eg Wickes) standard 78 inch part glazed oak veneer doors without affecting strength of door and appearance (these are often hollow)? Most only say trim a max of say 20mm.We would like a carpenter to do this.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

When you cut a door down depending on timber frame, you will lose it. You reuse or replace timber, once fitted and glued back in that will be fine. It's quite common and have done this many times. Best to take more off the bottom than the top. Regards Kevin.
