Bathroom floor wet and kitchen ceiling wet patches

Hi my bathroom floor is wet and directly under the kitchen, the ceiling is wet in patches, not dripping just damp patches. The only leak, if you call it that, is under the basin hot water tap in bathroom, but was only a little wet can't see how that could have caused all the floor and ceiling to get so wet and the tap has dried up within an hour. Coincidence is we've had rain on the two occasions these patches have come in the kitchen within couple weeks apart. I have two big blobs of wetness on kitchen ceiling, then three or four separate wet patches about 2ft apart. Any help would be appreciated
