Is my current radiator adequate for my bedroom?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.46 PM

Hi there, I am currently refurbishing the main bedroom in my house, and while the carpet is up, wondered whether I'd need to get additional radiators installed? The current double radiator, situated in the wide section of the bay window is 1.43m x 0.46m. The room dimensions are 5.7m x 3.53m x 2.79m (length x breadth x height). The original single glazed windows have just been draught proofed, and the house is a 1930s mid terrace. Any advice would be appreciated as this will determine whether I need to post a new job. Thanks Fiona

The heat loss calculations based only on the room dims you have provided give us a radiator with a KW rating of 3.17 kW but you failed to mention the m² of glazing and whether you have adequate loft insulation too, also if the room is north facing and the number of external walls in the bedroom, so I have factored in the worst possible heat loss calculations.
