Lower water pressure after new bathroom installed

Hi there, I have recently had a new bathroom installed with lovely new taps. My bathroom fitter has confirmed that he did not change any of the pipework yet the flow of water coming out of the new taps (both bath and sink) is a lot less that we had before. We had separate hot and cold taps before and now have mixer taps (from Victoria Plumb). Is it possible that the taps are at fault, or could the bathroom fitter have done something to affect water pressure? Victoria Plumb are sending me replacement taps in case theirs are faulty but we have noticed that even our shower pressure has reduced and this is exactly the same pump as before and same pipework (just a slightly larger head, but only fractionally). Any help would be apprecaited!

The taps you had before were designed for low pressure systems which you have, modern taps for the most part are designed for high pressure systems which is why your flow rate has dropped very noticeably. Not your plumbers fault but he should know this as should the sales people selling bathrooms as this is not an unusual problem. It is possible to get taps more suited to low pressure systems but you will not have as much choice. As for the shower, similar problem a larger shower head will appear to have a poorer flow rate but it will be the same it is just the performance will be weaker as the same flow of water is flowing from a larger area, to boost the performance you may need to invest in a more powerful pump. hope this is helpful-Kevin.

All new combi taps come with flexible pipes which are usually micro bore this would effect flow rate.
