Do I need plans to have a single storey extension built in Shawlands glasgow?

The planning laws in Scotland are slightly different to those in England so your first port of call would be the planning team in your local council. When you say 3.6m long is this the projection from the rear existing wall? If so it is likely you will need to apply. You may be asked to complete an enquiry form and send it to the council but at least you will be given guidance. If they say you do need it then you will have to get plans drawn up and go through the application process (I think the Scottish process involves you sending notice to your neighbours in writing). Hi. Don't pay for drawings until you have had a builder give you a rough estimate. You could be throwing over £1000 away if its out of your budget. If an estimate is affordable get drawings done, submit to planning and off you go!! I hate pricing work without drawings but there is something I hate even more, that's spending hours on a full set of drawings working out fixed quotes only to be told the customer can't afford it!!
