Insurance claim for broken gas pipe
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.01 PM
If a paver breaks a gas pipe when digging up my drive, should he claim on his insurance or me on mine?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi Sarah,
If the contractor you hired broke your gas pipe, you should claim against his public indemnity insurance.
You should claim of your insurance if damage has been caused inside of your demise that was potentially out of your control, such as, a water softener malfunctioning, a roof leak, a water pipe that has corroded and has caused a leak.
All contractors should have professional indemnity insurance in case of situations like this, where they have caused damage to your property or to a third party.
