Does my flat that I rent have to be RCD protected?

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 2.58 PM

Hi I am currently renting a flat and have been having some sparks from inside a socket and the shower switch getting very hot sometimes when using shower, I have now discovered that the fuse box has no RCD protection. Is this now against the law that an estate agent has rented out a flat with no RCD? Also I have no extractor fan in my shower room, it is a 1st floor flat and has a window in the toilet/shower room. Thanks for taking time to read feedback would be much appreciated! Jason

It should be rcd protected, sparks, hot switches. I hope the switches are nowhere near water. If so, don't use it and get a qualified electrician in. Good luck, Bob.
