Bathroom Fitting

Do I need planning permission to put a stud wall up in a bedroom and make an en-suite bathroom?

Do I need planning permission to put a stud wall up in a bedroom and make an en-suite bathroom, and possibly put in a small window with obscure glass? There was a large window there previous but has been bricked up, our next door neighbour still has theirs. Could someone let me know the correct procedure. Thanks

The only time you need planning permission for internal works is if the property is listed. You will however need to apply for building regulations to have the new drainage connections inspected. They will also ask that a fan be fitted to assist with ventilation. When the new window is fitted, ensure that whoever is doing it is either FENSA or CERTASS registered. Louise UK Property Services
