Bathroom swap from rear of house to front of house

Anonymous user 14/03/2024 - 2.31 PM

I have a semi property with a large bathroom round the back, the soil stack is also at the back, including the manhole. I want to move the bathroom to the front (box room) so that I can have a bigger 3rd bedroom (old bathroom). I've been told the existing rainwater gulley near the front (on side wall) can be converted to a soil stack. The con29DW report shows that the sewer pipe runs through everyone's back gardens but not on the front side. Is this conversion possible? By the way its a 1930s build, York stone fronted with blocks (not bricks) on side and rear. When you say 'modern water regs' do you mean for modern homes?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Rain water cannot go into the sewers and soil cannot go into the rain water system but putting your bathroom at the front of your house IS possible even if your soil stack is at the back. I've done exactly this and have it on my feedback. It was signed off by building control and wasn't particularly challenging. You should post this as a job and get some on site advice. You will possibly get some crap advice along the way (as my client did) by people that don't know what they are talking about but you should get someone that knows their stuff also :)

Hello, Modern water regs don't permit rain water from running into mains sewers so depending on the age of your property will probably determine whether you can remove the rain water and replace it with a sewage pipe.
