Tiling on a wall with tiles removed and adhesive scrapped off

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.00 PM

We've just removed tiles from a plasterboard wall and a wooden boxed in area in a bathroom. We've scrapped off the old adhesive. We're going to be fitting 40x25cm tiles and have got unibond ultimate grab wall tile adhesive. Should we prime the surface of the plasterboard and boxed in area before tiling. If so can you advise which primer to use with this adhesive.

Any tile primer will do from your local tile/builder shop. Just don't use pva and any tiler you use kick off site if they suggest using it, your tiles will eventually fall off from it bubbling in moisture.

Hi, do not use PVA. I suggest you use a primer called SBR, this is far much better than PVA. I have used SBR for years and have had no problems.
