Tiling

Using larger bathroom floor tiles and plywood

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.45 PM

I have had a guy from rated people to board out my bathroom to allow floor tiles to be laid. He has not used ply wood and has told me I can only use small tiles. However I do not want very small tiles on the floor. It is ok to use larger tiles?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You can use whatever tiles you want. Maybe if the walls are out of square he might think it would look better. You should always over board any wooden floor with either ply or better cement board. Try putting a job on this web site.

I agree with srr property services, however any good tiler would be able to cut tiles to suit an out of square room & they are never that far out that you would notice

You have not said what he has used to overboard? You can use ply but cement board is 100% better than ply and the cost difference is very small, you can use any size tile but if using large format tiles on the walls there is a weight restriction which you must look at.
