External insulation system and render for large bungalow - can I put monocouche over insulation?

Anonymous user 14/03/2024 - 2.30 PM

I own a large bungalow, half of the building was timber rough cast and a brick extension was built many years ago. There was a big damp problem, we removed all the offending timber walls and replaced these with new external weatherboard/timber. The inside was insulated and plastered and looks normal! The outside however, I believe requires an insulation system to the timber part of the building and completely re-rendering however, we also enlisted the help of a very dodgy builder who cost us thousands and left us with no confidence in tradesmen...we've had quotes from £6000 - £16000 for the same job. We've been told you can't put monocouche etc over insulation because it will fall off, we've also been told that this is not true ....we can't spend another winter with weather sheets covering our home :(

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi you can indeed render over the top of insulation however I believe that it is item specific the best course of action for you to take at this time would be to contact a company called weber they are one of the main Monocoúche coloured render system suppliers in the country theydo the complete product selection from the insulation to the render itself There email is mail@weber.co.uk. There website is also a good place for you to peruse and gain a little insight I to the work entailed As for pricing. It's not cheap. So the latter end of the prices you've record so far would be closer to the mark. Hope this helps Darren
