Noise in my bedroom from my neighbours TV in their downstairs extension

Anonymous user 14/03/2024 - 2.30 PM

Hi there. I live in a semi-detached house. My neighbour has a rear ground floor extension that extends their party wall and their extension roof peaks between the 2 houses upstairs windows. When their TV is on in the morning I can hear everything from their TV downstairs when I am upstairs in bed and it wakes me. It is very annoying. My question is - will the extension transmit the sound upstairs and through the wall? The TV is essentially between the inside and outside walls. The roof doesn't appear to have any insulation and I'm not sure the walls do either. Is this possible and does this mean that the building has not been soundproofed at all? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi, sound proofing is quite expensive when done properly. and if you already suspect that the ceiling of the extension hasn't got any insulation, I would definately not expect walls to be sound proofed. hope this will help you
