Laying marine ply onto old tile adhesive

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.45 PM

I have recently removed my kitchen tiles which were stuck straight on the floorboards. I need to lay marine ply in prep for new tiles but I wanted to see if it is ok to lay it onto old adhesive. It would be a monumental task to remove and it's not too uneven. Would this result in bad consequences for the new floor though?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

The building trade is sometimes monumental :) Take your time and prepare properly.

The best way would be to use cement board fixed with floor tile adhesive and screwed, this is a much better substrate than ply.
