6 foot fence panels for 5 foot concrete posts

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.45 PM

We have 5' fence panels with concrete posts in between, across the bottom of the garden and part way behind the back of a shed which was there when we moved in. The panels and posts however stop across the middle of the back of the shed leaving a 3 - 4 foot gap to the corner of the garden with no posts nor panels. What we want is 6' panels across the bottom of the garden to screen the eye sore behind it and give us some privacy and also stop their kids ball coming over the fence and him going through the gap to fetch it. We also want to take down the shed and most importantly, not cause any problems or disputes. The panels and posts look exactly the same as around his garden. My questions are - whose fence and boundary is it by law and can we put a 6 foot fence up in front of his 5 foot fence with the concrete posts being only 5 foot and does there need to be a gap? Has anyone ever come across this type of situation before and how did you deal with it? Thanks

Hi there check your title deeds to the property or ask the previous owner how put fence up to determine hows fence is it. You will be able to solve the mystery soon. You can put the fence in front of existing fence as long as the fence is within your bounder.

Hi Look on your title deeds and there should be a red T to mark who's fence it is. Failing this you can put up a six foot fence up to the original fence (gap). Regards Steve
