Tiling

can you fix a sink to tiles 2 hours after they have been put up?

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 2.57 PM

The tiler is supposed to have finished today but he went home. He is to return tomorrow morning at 8 am. The sink and toilet are to be put in tomorrow and the bathside panel put in.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Rapid set adhesives bond very well and fast particularly in this weather, however wouldn't recommend adding any weight to tiles just yet. If the tiler is to return tomorrow morning then everything should be fine by then. Reece, Advance Tiling

Firstly, a sink should not be fixed just onto tiles. A sink must be drilled with two holes as per back of sinks. Therefore it is not actually holding from the tiles. Once it is drilled and screwed in, it can then be sealed around, so therefore yes in effect the sink can be fitted almost straight away as it's not putting weight on to the tiles. It's bolted/screwed in to the wall. Gareth, A1 Plastering & Tiling (Rotherham)
