Central Heating

Do I need to heat water up every day so there is a hot water supply in the immersion heater?

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 2.57 PM

Hi all, I would appreciate some help. I have just bought a house where the central heating is a Pro Gas wall mounted gas fired combination boiler and it says hot water is provided via the central heating boiler and the electric immersion heater. Does this mean that I will need to heat the hot water up every day so there is a hot water supply in the immersion boiler or does that mean that it is fired by a combi boiler but the immersion heater serves as a back up? Thanks in advance for your advice! Regards, May

The immersion is the back up system, normally you only use it in summer when the main central heating is off.

If it is a combi boiler it does both heating and instant hot water when you turn the tap on. There should not be a hot water cylinder on the hot water side, that's if it is a combi!
