Hi
Combination boilers downfall: 1. Boiler goes off. you have no back up
2. modern boilers break constantly
3. Extremely reduced hot water flow
4. Absolute gas guzler, not efficient, because you shower for 10 mins longer every time, and you also have to wait 30 seconds before water warms up, from new also after 3 years you will have to wait 1 munute or worse wont the water will never warm up properly.
The alternative, Unvented mains pressure cylinder they come in horizontal to fit in loft, type in on ebay horizontal cylinder, the second advert down this comes as a kit with all you need to upgrade, this way keep the heating on vented system because sealed systems can damage heating joints, keep the old awsome boiler. convert to fully mains hot and cold, full hot flow, full cold flow, no main tank in the loft, you will have a back up immersion heater, you can also put unvented cylinders in airing cupboard.

Hope this helps...
