How to trade in old combi boiler

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.00 PM

After only four years, I now find that my Halstead X Type CBX 38 requires a part that I have been told is OBSOLETE. It is the 20 plate heat exchanger. I also understand that since being taken over by Glen Dimplex, Halstead boilers are no longer made. Is this true? It looks as though I may have to replace my boiler and I note that there are schemes were you can (a) trade in your old boiler, and (b) possibly qualify for a Green grant. Is the trade in general or does it just apply to companies like British Gas? In view of my what looks to be a very costly experience, I will be looking for a reliable boiler with a long guarantee. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Little concerned that you have been told that spares are obsolete for your boiler; this is certainly not the case, as I have found a supplier who carries the plate heat exchanger for your model. Expect to pay £150 plus for a replacement on top of labour. Why have you been informed the plate heat exchanger needs replacing?
