Kick board gaps in kitchen
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 2.57 PM
hello I had a guy fit my kitchen. When I came to put the kick boards on there was a gap of 10 mm which you could see all round as my kitchen is quite big. My guy tried to fix it by lowering everything. The kitchen is quite big. Now everything looks out of line and some of the cupboards have come apart. Is there a way of fixing this ? the worktops are already on and not fixed as yet. Please help I'm having nightmares about it.

Kick boards generally don't need to be cut down other then scribing to floor levels as the worktop height should be set to that as to allow for the boards to simply fit in with a small gap for ease of clipping on and off. Jacking units down after the event is not advised especially if tiles/ splash backs have been fitted. Order over depth plinths or if they don't make them in the range you have purchased, all you can do is to buy a sheet panel and cut that in to wider lengths than you have currently. They will require edging tape to avoid spills and such soaking up and blowing the chip core. This will work if you don't have curved plinths.
You're welcome

Simple get some one in who knows what there doing. Will probably need to get new kick boards as the guy would have cut them. There not that expensive and it gets the job done right

Agree with srr. New kick boards was the answer. Anyone who tries to lower everything to suit the wrongly cut ones needs their head examined :)
