Carpet fitters supply flooring?

Hi, we are in the process of buying a house and we will need to recarpet/refloor almost all of it. Am I best to source carpets and vinyls etc separately and then post a job for a carpet fitter (Livingston, West Lothian) or do most carpet fitters also have means to supply carpets etc? Not sure what the process is here as in our previous house we used a major retailer but paid over the odds I think - the one carpet we got supplied and fitted by an independent was much cheaper and much better quality - do all fitters supply like this?
