Materials for rebuilding a garden wall
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 2.59 PM
Am seeking to replace (or or least partially replace) existing brick-built garden wall. Wall is original Victorian brick but much of it is in a state of dangerous disrepair. The wall acts as a retaining wall, as our neighbours' garden is on a higher level. What long-term but better value alternatives can be considered to building in expensive brick - e.g. eco sleepers? Fencing with gravel boards? Thanks, Simon.

hi simon
if the bricks are no longer useable then if you arnt bothered about appearence too much then you could build in block or even rockfaced blocks this is quite cheap to buy ,alternativly you could as you say replace with concrete posts and gravel boards to erect a fence , each post would have to be 2ft down for long term with no problems but you may need 2 gravel boards according to the height difference between you and your neighbour hope this helps
