Reskimmed Ceiling and Walls Left With Poor Plastering Finish
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 2.57 PM
We have just had a bedroom reskimmed (including the ceiling to remove artex) and the plasterer left a complete mess at the end of the job; plaster on window sills, door frames and all over a ladder we had left in the room. Furthermore, the finish is not very smooth and having painted the ceiling we are seeing a number of imperfections. The skimming did not involve new/replacement plasterboards so I am a little at odds as to whether this is normal and (if not) what the best course of action should be. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Hi there, I am sorry to hear that you have had a poor job done. Your walls and ceiling should always be smooth and flat regardless if they have to be removed and plaster boarded. The only thing I can suggest is using a easy fill on all the imperfections (trowel marks, dinks etc) then giving it a sand down once its dried.
Obviously if you still not happy with it the only other option is to get someone else in to do a proper job and re-skim the whole lot but that means money coming out of your pocket!
Hope this helps and your find a solution soon.
Kind Regards
