Boiler problems - banging noise and only lukewarm water with a fully open tap

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 2.59 PM

My boiler has been banging loudly of late, like someone is hitting it with a hammer. Not only that - when I try to run a bath or even wash the dishes in the sink downstairs, the hot water is very lukewarm with a fully open tap - and I can only get the water to heat up if I close the tap off to a very slow trickle. Filling a bath takes absolutely ages, whereas before the hot water would flow properly with a fully open tap. Does anyone have any idea what's the problem? It's a combi boiler by the way. Thanks!!

Your DHW plate heat exchanger is partially blocked or your primary heat exchanger if you only have one heat exchanger. Contact your local Gas Safe engineer to advise on cost. Not a difficult job to rectify.
